A Fine Artist and Designer

​Plants predominate throughout Fiona's art practice. 
She works on paper for her drawings and paints on jute, hessian, linen and sometimes on perspex for her abstract monotype prints.

​Since early 2022 Fiona has created portraits that connect people with plants and the land. ​

Scottish Portrait Awards 2024

So pleased to announce that Imelda - Soil Scientist is shortlisted for the Scottish Portrait Awards 2024 opening at the Scottish Arts Club, Edinburgh, Duff House, Banff and the Charles Rennie Macintosh Gallery at the Glasgow Art Club until March 2025, this portrait began life with sittings in the studio learning about Imelda and her soil science and plant research, then through painting studies and drawings, taking shape through a sanguine drawing and finally with the abstract soil structure image became one artwork.
